Sail Orkney has been around in Kirkwall since 2002, latterly operated by a prominent Orkney sailor, Brian Kynoch, who attracted a loyal customer base. Our Elan Impression 434, formerly named Catherine J, was launched in 2008 at Troon. It has been lightly chartered in and around Orkney, has been across to Norway four times and shows few signs of being a working boat.
The business is now under new family ownership, the vessel having been taken over in February 2018. Mike, Murray and Elaine look forward to welcoming you to the recently renamed “Single Malt” which is a superb bareboat vessel, but also particularly well appointed for skippered charters also. It is a cruising yacht with exceptional performance and a high level of comfort which will make guests feel totally at home, wherever they get to. We aim to deliver a first class friendly service, using a well maintained vessel and by providing a tailored experience to those who decide to come with us for the first time or to those returning for another adventure.
Whether it be a week, a two week charter, perhaps a shorter holiday or even day/evening trips between charters, Kirkwall is a great starting point in order to explore the natural beauty of the Islands or indeed further if you wish.
Charters normally start and finish on a Saturday but we welcome requests for alternative days to suit your travel arrangements. We can also offer one-way charters finishing in Shetland, Wick or Inverness to suit. Although based in Orkney for most of the year, Single Malt will occasionally be sailed on the Scottish West Coast via Cape Wrath or the Caledonian Canal, remaining on the west from September onwards and through winter. These skippered deliveries may be of interest to some.
